The League of Welldoers
Founded back in 1893, the League of Welldoers was set up initially to provide school meals to starving children throughout Liverpool, Everton & Bootle.
After the end of the Second World War, with the introduction of the Welfare State in Britain, many services the League had provided for so many years evolved and have continued to grow over the years.
The League of Welldoers’ receives no funding from either local council or the government for its core services and relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and its fund raising activities to make ends meet.
Below are some of the services that The League of Welldoers provides at present :
- a fabulous pensioners club
- daily lunches, cooked on the premises
- range of activities for those aged 55+ including dances, karaoke, bingo and many more
- weekly chair based exercise classes (FREE)
- fabulous charity shop on the premises
